ROLE IMPACT
This hybrid role supports both driver management and customer operations to ensure freight moves efficiently, safely, and on schedule. The position serves as a vital communication bridge between drivers, planners, and customers maintaining data accuracy, resolving issues proactively, and delivering high-quality service that strengthens client relationships and driver engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assign and monitor vehicles and drivers for freight movement while maintaining accurate records in the AS400 system.
Build and manage customer orders, ensuring all load data and shipment details are entered, tracked, and updated in real time.
Provide proactive communication to customers regarding shipment status, potential delays, and delivery confirmations.
Coordinate with operations, planners, and customer service to resolve service issues and prevent potential failures.
Approve driver PTO requests and ensure compliance with scheduling and operational requirements.
Negotiate contract rates and coordinate quote and credit information with customers and internal departments.
Promote a professional, safety-focused work environment for both drivers and office staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of combined experience in customer service, transportation, logistics, or operations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage relationships across multiple teams.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
Proficient in AS400 and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. OD Experience needed
High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework or training in transportation or logistics preferred.
EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office-based role requiring extended computer use and frequent phone communication.
Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
Fast-paced environment requiring strong time management and multitasking skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience managing driver schedules or dispatch operations.
Knowledge of transportation compliance and load coordination procedures.
