Senior Property Accountant (Richmond, VA)

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This position reports directly to the Director of Property Accounting and plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of a growing commercial real estate portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and research and resolve reconciling items.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including capitalization of assets, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare mortgage reconciliations, including escrow accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and validate monthly management fee calculations for approval.
- Prepare and validate monthly sales tax calculations for approval.
- Record journal entries, including reclassifications, depreciation and amortization, accruals, and other adjustments.
- Prepare and/or review property financial reporting packages and other required financial information and analyses.
- Analyze account activity, identify trends, and provide reporting support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably within the commercial real estate industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software; Yardi experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
