What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Manager (Hybrid, US) position at Cornerstone Research?
This role is open to candidates in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, LA, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco.
Cornerstone Research’s Data Science Center is seeking a Product Manager to help define, build, and scale AI-enabled products that support the firm’s litigation consulting and expert services. This is a senior, hands-on role that owns the full breadth of product management across the Data Science Center’s portfolio of initiatives, from product definition and discovery through delivery and rollout. You will work in a domain where accuracy, trust, and impact matter, shaping products used in active matters that directly influence expert analysis and litigation outcomes.
You will work closely with Data Science leadership, engineers, designers, and stakeholders across the firm to translate needs into clear product direction, maintain roadmaps and feature backlogs, lead alignment, and drive successful product delivery and adoption. This role suits a product manager who operates with autonomy in fast-moving environments, sets product direction amid ambiguity, and works fluently in AI-native, prototype-first workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Own products end-to-end across the Data Science Center’s growing portfolio, with accountability for product outcomes and user impact across the full lifecycle, including (but not limited to):
o Leading discovery and validation efforts to engage users and stakeholders, surface unknowns, synthesize qualitative insights, and define product scope and success criteria before committing.
o Driving delivery execution, coordinating across designers, engineers, data scientists, and consultants while tracking timelines, risks, dependencies, and scope drift to surface tradeoffs and ensure delivery readiness.
2. Establish and own Cornerstone Research’s product operating model, shaping lightweight practices for planning, prioritization, and delivery that fit team capacity and firm-specific constraints.
3. Communicate product direction and drive adoption, translating plans, timelines, and tradeoffs into clear updates for senior stakeholders, while enabling user feedback, rollout, training, and effective use of delivered tools.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
• 4–6 years of experience in product management or a closely related role, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership conceiving, shaping, and delivering multiple software products.
• Proven ability to frame product problems and commit to prioritization or sequencing decisions in situations with incomplete information or competing constraints, and to defend those decisions to stakeholders.
• Strong product sense, with the ability to interpret user needs, synthesize qualitative input, and identify when additional discovery or validation is needed.
• Experience driving structured product execution, including maintaining feature backlogs, writing specifications and acceptance criteria, and coordinating across design and engineering partners.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate priorities, tradeoffs, and progress to both technical teams and senior stakeholders, including executives.
• Comfort working in fast-paced, evolving environments and willingness to learn and adopt new tools and workflows, including using AI-assisted techniques to support early product exploration and prototyping.
• Ability to reason about AI-product tradeoffs, including human-in-the-loop workflows, accuracy, explainability, and trust, in collaboration with engineering and data science partners.
Preferred:
• Experience adapting common product development and delivery patterns, with the judgment to tailor processes to the organization’s constraints and operating context.
• Experience using AI-powered coding assistants as part of lightweight prototyping to explore and refine product ideas, communicate product intent, and validate workflows with engineers and stakeholders before committing to build.
• Familiarity with internal-facing products, data platforms, or enterprise tools used by professional or knowledge-based organizations.
Application Requirements:
• Resume
• Cover Letter
• Portfolio (optional, if applicable please upload under “Additional Documents”)
