RESPITE CENTER GUEST SERVICES SPECIALIST

FLSA Non-Exempt/Full Time

Position Description

The CSRM Respite Center Guest Services Specialist provides daily operational support at the Respite Center, working directly with guests, visitors, and the CSRM Operations Manager to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Specialists collaborate with community health workers to support guest health and safety, while also handling intakes and exits, maintaining facility cleanliness, performing laundry services, and monitoring security of the building.

Summary

The CSRM Respite Center Guest Services Specialist serves as an on-site resource for guests in transition, ensuring their stay is safe, respectful, and supportive. Specialists are responsible for upholding facility rules, assisting with documentation, and ensuring the building is maintained in a clean and orderly manner. While not providing direct medical care, the Specialist plays an essential role in guest support, safety, and coordination of services with community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

· High School Diploma or equivalent (some college or training in human services preferred)

· Prior experience in shelter, residential, or human services setting preferred

· Current driver’s license and insured, operational vehicle required

· CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain

Essential Functions

Core Duties (All Shifts)

  • Intakes & Orientation: Welcome guests; complete required documentation; review rules and expectations; conduct bag checks per policy; assign rooms; enter into logs.
  • Exits/Discharges: Collect linens; perform room checks; document exit status; update logs; provide referrals as needed.
  • Guest Interaction: Support guests respectfully, address concerns, and refer to community health workers as appropriate.
  • Facility Cleanliness: Maintain common areas, bathrooms, and guest rooms; perform laundry for linens and guest items; follow infection-control standards.
  • Safety & Security: Monitor facility doors, cameras, and guest activity; enforce rules respectfully; conduct rounds and bed checks; respond to incidents per policy.
  • Logs & Documentation: Maintain accurate intake, exit, laundry, and incident records; complete reports before shift handoff.
  • Team Support: Communicate with oncoming staff; participate in meetings and trainings; support CSRM’s mission and values.

Shift-Specific Focus

  • Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, includes weekends) 1 opening
  • Primary time for intakes and discharges
  • Coordination with community health workers and partner agencies
  • Donation intake, laundry cycles, and inventory management
  • Room turnovers and reporting facility needs
  • Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM includes weekends)1 opening
  • Peak guest interaction and evening routines
  • Support with meal times, quiet-hour enforcement, and curfew checks
  • Monitor common area use and complete incident documentation as needed
  • Prepare logs and facility for overnight handoff
  • Overnight Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Awake) Not currently hiring for
  • Frequent safety rounds, bed checks, and building monitoring
  • Laundry and deep cleaning tasks
  • Maintain facility security and respond to overnight incidents
  • Prepare morning handoff (counts, logs, and supply notes)
  • No sleeping on duty

Required Work Hours

The Respite Center operates 24/7 with full-time staff scheduled across three shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM. All positions are awake shifts.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

· Reports to: CSRM Operations Manager.

· Supervisory Responsibilities: None; may occasionally direct volunteers or guests performing service work.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

· Ability to perform cleaning and laundry tasks

· Frequent standing, walking, and rounds throughout the facility

Travel

The Respite Center Guest Services Specialist may travel locally.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
