Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) role located in Berea, KY. The COTA will assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing treatment plans, providing individualized interventions to help residents improve or maintain functional independence in activities of daily living, mobility, and self-care. Day-to-day responsibilities include carrying out therapeutic exercises and activities, training in adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques, documenting treatments and patient progress in accordance with regulatory standards, and communicating observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team. The role also involves participating in care conferences, supporting discharge planning, following safety and infection control protocols, and contributing to a positive, respectful environment for residents, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications

• Current certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant and active Kentucky state licensure (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
• Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles, treatment techniques, and rehabilitation practices in short- and long-term care settings.
• Strong documentation and time management skills, with the ability to follow established care plans and regulatory guidelines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Ability to safely assist residents with mobility, transfers, and functional tasks, adhering to facility safety and infection control policies.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and commitment to person-centered, non-discriminatory care.
• Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or similar rehabilitation environments is preferred but not required.
• Basic computer skills for electronic health record (EHR) documentation and willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
