We are currently seeking a Director of Construction to oversee large-scale projects and capital improvements. This position with collaborate with the project planning team to plan, scope, and design each project. Other responsibilities will include developing a budget and timeline, selecting the best vendors and crews, visiting worksites to ensure production is proceeding efficiently and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives.
- Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resource allocations.
- Oversee customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
- Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
- Draw on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
- Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors.
- Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics.
- Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production, and labor estimates.
- Develop work plans and manages construction staff.
- Responsible for overseeing the performance of staff/contractors.
- Review contract documents and assists with procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations.
- Coordinate activities with other staff, departments, and public agencies.
- Resolve field construction problems in coordination with staff, third parties, and other agencies as necessary.
- Assist in negotiating with contractors regarding changes to the design, construction work scope, and schedules.
- Visit project sites to monitor progress, update schedules, and review costs with Project Superintendent/ Manager
- Work with owners/customers to help ensure complete customer satisfaction.
- Prepare project construction schedules.
- Review and monitor job costs versus budgets.
- Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lead others from diverse backgrounds.
- Prior experience within the construction or industry is highly desired.
- Knowledgeable with specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates.
- Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other documents.
- Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient with estimating software
- Ability to prepare construction schedules.
- Possess excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
- Focus and dedication to providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and/ or Engineering is desirable in/or comparable work experience, preferably in the field of Construction.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
