Position Overview
As a CDL Shuttle Operator, you’ll play an important role in delivering safe and reliable transportation for passengers on the Southern Methodist University campus, year-round. You’ll operate assigned shuttle vehicles, follow established routes and schedules, and ensure every rider receives a positive shuttle experience. This role offers consistent routes, shuttle stops, and schedule, with a unique opportunity to interact with a variety of students, faculty, staff, and public riders.

Shifts Available
- Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Safely operate shuttle vehicles according to scheduled routes and timetables.
- Ensure safe and courteous loading and unloading of passengers, including those with mobility needs.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Promptly report maintenance concerns or vehicle issues to the Shuttle Supervisor.
- Maintain on-time route performance and communicate any delays or route changes as needed.
- Provide professional, courteous service to all passengers and assist as needed during boarding and disembarking.
- Respond to passenger questions, concerns, or complaints with patience and professionalism.
- Keep accurate daily records of passenger counts, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents.
- Maintain a clean, fueled, and well-kept shuttle vehicle.
- Complete all required daily reports and logs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement of 26 passengers or more (required),
- Responsible driving record
- DOT Medical Examiner's Health Card required (company will provide for qualified applicants)
- Ability to operate lift accessible vehicles
- High School diploma or equivalent
- High standard of integrity
- Experience delivering quality service in customer/public environment
- Displays a positive attitude, flexibility, initiative and ability to communicate effectively
- Interpersonal Skills: Remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things
- Able to read, write, comprehend, and converse in the English language
- Previous driving experience a plus
