A CENTER FOR GRIEVING CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS

TRAUMATIC LOSS RESPONSE TEAM (NORTHEAST OHIO REGION)

Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly (40 hours/week)

Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience Location: Cornerstone of Hope – Cleveland, Ohio Service Area: Cuyahoga County and surrounding Northeast Ohio counties (travelrequired within approximately 100–125 mile radius, one way)

We provide grief support, education, and postvention response to individuals, families, schools, and communities impacted by loss.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Field Responder plays a critical role in delivering timely, trauma-informed postvention services to individuals and communities impacted by traumatic losses, including suicide, homicide, overdose, and other traumatic deaths.

This position combines crisis response, community outreach, and program development. The Field Responder provides on-site emotional support, practical resources, and coordinated follow-up services while building strong partnerships with coroners, first responders, law enforcement, schools, and community agencies across Northeast Ohio.

This work requires compassion, emotional resilience, professionalism, and the ability to remain steady in high-intensity situations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Crisis & Postvention Response

  • Respond to suicide, homicide, and overdose deaths throughout Northeast Ohio
  • Provide immediate on-site support and grief resources to families and survivors
  • Coordinate follow-up care and referrals to ongoing grief services
  • Maintain timely documentation and reporting
  • Participate in a rotating evening/weekend on-call schedule

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Build and sustain partnerships with coroners, hospitals, schools, first responders, and community organizations
  • Increase awareness and visibility of postvention services throughout the region
  • Assist in developing outreach strategies and educational efforts
  • Represent the organization at community meetings and collaborative initiatives

Program Development & Volunteer Support

  • Support recruitment and coordination of trained volunteers
  • Assist with marketing and awareness initiatives
  • Contribute to regional program expansion and strategic growth
  • Participate in organization-wide initiatives aligned with our “All-Hands-on-Deck” team culture

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in crisis intervention, social services, behavioral health, victim advocacy, or related field
  • Ability to respond calmly and compassionately in high-intensity environments
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity and ability to process exposure to traumatic situations
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering compassionatepresence
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Northeast Ohio (100–125 miles one way as needed)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Availability for evening and weekend on-call rotations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Public Health, or related human services field
  • Lived or professional experience related to traumatic loss
  • Established relationships within Northeast Ohio counties
  • Bilingual skills a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role includes a combination of field-based crisis response and office-based administrative work at our Cleveland location. Travel throughout Northeast Ohio is required. Flexibility is essential, as community needs may arise outside traditionalbusiness hours.

All new employees participate in orientation during their first week and complete 45-day and 90-day performance reviews.
