Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and punctual Morning Care Teacher to lead our early-arrival program for children ages 2 to 5. In this role, you will welcome families, oversee morning drop-offs, and supervise toddlers and preschoolers with gentle play before their day begins. This position is open for the school year schedule and is ideal for retirees, college students, or neighbors looking for steady, rewarding morning hours.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM – 9:15 AM (10 hours per week)
- Schedule: Follows the local school year calendar
- Compensation: $15.00 per hour
- Location: Cornerstone Lutheran Church and Preschool, 6100 N Raceway Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46234
Key Responsibilities
- Greet families warmly during morning arrival, ensuring a smooth and comforting drop-off for young children.
- Supervise toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2–5) closely to maintain a safe, kind, and orderly environment.
- Lead age-appropriate free-play opportunities.
- Model Christian values through patient, positive interaction and encouraging words.
- Clean and organize the care area, ensuring toys and tables are tidied at the end of the shift.
- Transition children safely to their classrooms or school staff at 9:00 AM.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous childcare experience with toddlers or preschoolers (ages 2–5) in a daycare, preschool, or church nursery setting is highly preferred.
- Education: Must hold a high school diploma.
- Clearances: Must pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprint screening as required by state childcare policies.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications are required (training can be provided).
- Traits: Exceptionally reliable, punctual, patient, and possesses a warm, welcoming personality.
