Job Title: Human Resources Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt


Position Summary

Cornerstone Housing Partners seeks a skilled and mission-driven Human Resources professional to lead all HR functions for the organization. This role is responsible for developing and administering human resources policies, practices, and systems that support a diverse workforce across housing development, property management, and resident services. The HR Manager ensures compliance with employment laws, fosters an inclusive and supportive workplace culture, and aligns HR strategies with Cornerstone’s mission of providing stable, affordable housing.


Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration & Compliance

  • Oversee all aspects of human resources administration, including personnel files, HR systems, and recordkeeping
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and external consultants as needed

Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for all positions, including job postings, screening, interviews, and offers
  • Support hiring managers with equitable, inclusive, and compliant hiring practices
  • Lead onboarding and orientation for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition and understanding of organizational culture
  • Support workforce planning and succession planning efforts

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Coordination

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, and wellness initiatives
  • Serve as liaison with benefits brokers and vendors
  • Support compensation analysis and pay equity reviews
  • Coordinate payroll processes with finance staff or external providers

Performance Management & Staff Development

  • Administer performance evaluation processes and support supervisors with goal-setting and feedback
  • Support professional development, training, and leadership development initiatives
  • Assist in identifying organizational training needs, including compliance and supervisory training

Organizational Culture & DEI

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across hiring, retention, and staff development
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers

Strategic HR Support

  • Advise leadership on HR best practices, organizational design, and change management
  • Support organizational growth and capacity-building initiatives
  • Prepare HR-related reports for leadership and Board as needed


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3 years of progressive human resources experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience managing employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
  • Experience in nonprofit, affordable housing, property management, or social services settings
  • Familiarity with multi-site or diverse workforces
