Position Overview
The Shelter Monitor is an essential, entry-level position responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and compassionate shelter environment. Shelter Monitors assist in the day-to-day operations of three homeless family shelters and help create a positive living atmosphere while supporting clients' well-being and independence.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Duties
- Perform all responsibilities according to Cornerstone policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and operational reviews.
- Record all required documentation, including logs, computer entries, and forms.
- Review and contribute to Shift Change Reports at the start and end of each shift.
- Welcome new clients, conduct orientations, and offer support and referrals.
- Enforce shelter rules consistently and fairly.
- Keep supply areas clean and well-stocked with toiletries, towels, linens, and other materials.
- Ensure clients have the supplies they need and retrieve Cornerstone property when they exit.
- Follow all safety and emergency protocols.
- Conduct hourly room and common area checks.
- Support case management goals and action plans as needed.
- Collaborate with other Cornerstone ministries and staff for coordinated care.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.
