What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Door & Locking Systems Technician position at Cornerstone Detention Products?
We are looking for a traveling Detention Door & Locking Systems Technician to service Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania areas.
Troubleshoot, service, repair, and install approved detention locks and doors within project time, budget constraints, and quality standards to meet customer requirements.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred: Associate’s degree in construction
Licensing/Registration/Certification
Required: Local certifications as required by work area; must pass criminal background checks
Preferred: OSHA10/30, First Aid/CPR, NC Registrant, DCJS Locksmith, Airteq, Southern Folger, Folger Adams, Brinks, forklift, ariel lift
Experience
Required: 3 or more years in the installation or service of detention equipment
Preferred: 5 years minimum in the installation or service of detention locks, doors and related equipment, welding experience / certification
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Basic construction technology knowledge
- Working knowledge of approved construction practices and detention equipment installation
- Ability to work independently and efficiently of acceptable quality
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Basic math skills
Physical
Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting
over 100 lbs. Able to sit, stoop, bend and work for long periods of time on ground and from stepladders. Must have the ability to twist, and have full use of the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing of the arms, legs, wrists and hands. Excellent sight and hearing, hand movements must allow for use of hand tools, large power tools, drive forklifts, write, and utilize a computer.
Working Conditions
- 100% travel
- Blended - Vehicle and air travel as required.
- All working conditions are on customer sites and may include tight or dirty conditions
DUTIES AND TASKS
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install detention grade locks and doors.
- Perform physical labor as needed.
- Follow written and verbal instructions provided by immediate supervisor.
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
- Basic construction technology and approved construction practices to job installation work.
- Perform job duties without constant supervision.
- Safeguard all tools and company equipment in their care.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions on a jobsite immediately.
- Work and interact with facility personnel and other team members on the jobsite.
- Follow all safety procedures as set forth by the general contractor or relevant regulatory bodies, whichever is stricter.
- Provide guidance to other technicians as assigned.
