Synopsis
The Asset Renewal Office Engineer reports to the Asset Renewal Program Manager and will oversee the administrative processes and construction requirements of multiple small projects at the same time. The Asset Renewal Program replaces end-of-life airport assets, primarily MEP fire and security systems, vertical and horizontal transportation systems, building enclosure assemblies, below-grade utility systems, baggage systems, and passenger boarding bridges.
Essential Job Duties
- Experience with the design and construction industries, administrative processes and requirements.
- Must have experience with payment applications, including quantity dispute resolution.
- Must have excellent skills in documentation and file organization and maintenance.
- Experience reviewing and responding to RFI’S.
- Experience reviewing submittals for compliance with the Contract Documents and.
- Experience and proficient in reading design drawings and specifications.
- Able to communicate and interact with the other members of the Asset Renewal team and LAWA departments, City Dept.’s., contractors and Airlines.
- Available to work modified schedule as construction activities require.
- Experience with starting up a project and on boarding the contractor or design-builders.
- Experience closing out projects, including: operations and maintenance manuals, payment releases, punch-list documentation and closeout, final pay applications, warranty and training requirements, etc.
- May be called upon to take meeting-minutes and distribute to attendees.
- Support the Construction Manager and Program Manager in other tasks and duties.
- Experience constructing work on an occupied and operating campus.
- Coordinate and implement Area Shutdown Requests (ASR’s), and Utility Shutdown Requests (USR’s).
- Should have experience working on phased and complex Public Agency projects in an occupied setting.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems
- Ability to work in CAD or REVIT a plus
- Excellent knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and management software (able to create logs, charts, etc.).
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
- 10 years or more experience in managing the design of small and medium complex building projects, utilities and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projects.
- Experience with projects more than $25 million in value.
- Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
- Must have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities.
- Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds.
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, Engineering, and/or related industry experience.
Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
- May assume other duties as required/needed.
- May be required to work past regular work shift.
- This is NOT a work from home position.
- This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX.
- After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. Daytime hours will be adjusted as required.
Estimated Dates of Assignment: 12/29/2025 to 6/30/2026
Salary Range: $110,240 to $139,360 YR
