Duties
- Develop and implement a dynamic art curriculum tailored to different age groups and skill levels, incorporating diverse mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, sewing, and theater arts.
- Lead engaging art lessons that promote creativity, technical skills, and self-expression while ensuring all activities are age-appropriate and inclusive.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively by establishing clear expectations, maintaining a positive environment, and applying appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Foster a safe and supportive space where children feel comfortable experimenting with new techniques in arts like ballet-inspired movement or culinary arts such as simple cooking projects.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to integrate art into broader camp themes or special events like performances or exhibitions.
- Provide individualized guidance and support to students, including those with special education needs or early childhood development requirements.
- Maintain organized supplies and ensure all art materials are used responsibly and safely throughout the camp session.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in classroom teaching or tutoring young children in arts or related fields such as theater, dance (ballet/dancing), photography, sewing, or culinary arts.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior management strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including preschoolers and early childhood learners.
- Excellent communication skills to engage students actively and collaborate with camp staff and parents when necessary.
- Background in childhood development or early childhood education is preferred.
- Experience working with students who have special needs or require additional support is a plus.
- Creative mindset with a passion for arts education across multiple disciplines—visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts—and an enthusiasm for inspiring young minds.
