Duties

• Greet customers warmly as they approach the checkout counter, establishing a friendly and professional rapport.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges efficiently.
• Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other payment methods with precision and integrity.
• Assist customers with product questions, provide product demos when applicable, and suggest upselling opportunities to enhance their shopping experience.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, including stocking shelves and merchandising products as needed.
• Ensure adherence to phone etiquette standards when answering inquiries or assisting customers over the phone.
• Support inventory management by stocking shelves, conducting stock checks, and assisting with product displays to maximize sales potential.

Skills

• Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail or grocery store environment.
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings.
• Ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings to serve a diverse customer base.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and excellent phone etiquette.
• Knowledge of retail math for accurate cash register operations and sales calculations.
• Capable of performing basic math quickly and accurately for transactions and inventory counts.
• Experience in merchandising, stocking, and product demos to promote sales opportunities.
• Familiarity with grocery store operations, retail sales techniques, and upselling strategies.
