Summer Art Teachers

Corner House Studio
Piedmont, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/6/2026

Corner House Studio is looking for enthusiastic, creative art educators to lead our full-day Summer Art Camp. This is a seasonal, full-time position (35-40 hours/week) with a minimum commitment of four consecutive weeks. Our camp season runs approximately 12 weeks, and we'd love to have you for as much of it as your summer allows.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Weeks available: June 2 – August 14
  • Required Commitment: at least 4 consecutive weeks.

About the Role

Art Camp Teachers are the heart of the summer experience at CHS. You'll use our proprietary curriculum and teaching philosophies to lead engaging, artist-centered projects — but because campers are with us for 6 hours a day, this role goes well beyond art instruction. You'll be supervising outdoor play, leading games during breaks, walking kids to and from the park, managing snack and lunch times, and making sure every child in your care feels safe, supported, and inspired. You'll need real stamina, a grounded presence, and the ability to bring warmth and creativity to a long, full camp day.

If you light up around kids, thrive in busy and dynamic environments, and find meaning in helping young people feel capable and excited about making things — this could be for you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and facilitate engaging art projects using our studio curriculum and teaching philosophy
  • Use inquiry and observation to support artists while they work
  • Prepare materials and set up the studio according to camp and curriculum plans
  • Lead simple games and play-based activities during breaks
  • Supervise snack, lunch, outdoor play, and all transitions with full attention
  • Walk children safely to and from the park (about .25 miles each way) following safety procedures
  • Maintain a calm, grounded presence — even during high-energy camp moments
  • Keep the studio clean, organized, and reset between project blocks
  • Welcome students and families with authenticity, confidence, and warmth
  • Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and CPR/First Aid certification (provided by CHS)

This job is for you if…

  • You have a genuine love for kids and a warm, friendly, high-energy presence.
  • You're passionate about the visual arts and comfortable facilitating art-making processes.
  • You're grounded, patient, and able to regulate the energy of a group.
  • You enjoy leading games, imaginative play, and outdoor activities just as much as art projects.
  • You have excellent situational awareness — especially during outdoor and offsite supervision.
  • You communicate clearly, ask for what you need, and give and receive feedback with openness.
  • You're reliable, dependable, and committed to showing up fully — every day, on time.
  • You bring joy, humor, and creative energy to your team and take initiative to solve problems.
  • You're physically able to stay actively engaged with children for 6 hours a day in summer conditions.

This job is not for you if…

  • You're looking for a low key desk job or a role focused only on art instruction.
  • You struggle with punctuality, stamina, or consistent attendance.
  • You're not comfortable with the physical demands of full-day child supervision —including 2 hours a day outdoors.
  • You have a hard time staying calm and grounded when things get loud or chaotic.
  • You're not open to feedback or find it difficult to communicate your needs directly and respectfully.
