Postdoctoral Associate in Optimization Modeling


The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University seeks a postdoctoral associate. The positions can be remote (but the home location needs to be in the United States). The position is initially available for one year with a potential renewal for a total of two years.


We seek a candidate with strong optimization skills and expertise with game theory is a plus but not required. Ideally this person would have a Ph.D. in operations research, computer science, applied math or a related field. The focus of this person’s research would be on the development of novel methods to solve game theoretic models in natural hazard loss insurance modeling and in the optimization of municipal land use decision-making for risk management.

Pay Range:

$61,008.00 - $87,000.00

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  • Unique applicable skills.
