Cornell Roofing and Sheet Metal Co is seeking a detail-oriented Sheet Metal Estimator who is proficient in plan and spec reading as well as Microsoft suite. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for commercial roofing/sheet metal projects, ensuring our bids are as competitive as they are precise. Primary Function: Responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for commercial roofing and industrial projects specific to sheet metal. This is a supportive role to the Sheet Metal Project Manager.
Primary Duties:
· Review multiple bidding sites for projects
· Meet weekly to discuss which projects fit our profile and improve the likeliness we can be competitive
· Once jobs are selected they are assigned to a project manager
· Specs and drawings are reviewed and takeoff done using Onscreen Takeoff.
· Manufacturers and suppliers are sent specs for material selection review and pricing
· Pricing is compiled and proposal is put together.
· Discussion on labor hours with all involved in project
· Determine any sub-contractors needed, dumpsters, facilities, work outside roofing or sheet metal
· Determine any required permits, street closures, licenses, etcetera
· Prepare any bid bonds needed for project
· Prepare bid forms, email bids, written proposals for projects
· Deliver bids if needed by mail, transport or email
· Once job is awarded begin to prepare submittals, including shop drawings utilizing Autocad.
· Attend all pre-construction and/or progress meetings
· Insure all employees complete any pre-job safety classes or entry checks
· Complete warranty applications for project
· Order material for project and schedule delivery with Roofing Superintendent
· Visit job for set up
· Manage project: Close out project once complete by entering completion notice and schedule final
inspections for manufacture. Coordinate with building owner or GC ; punch list items that need to
be addressed
· Attend seminars, trainings, continuing education as needed
· Control project costs throughout the projects
