Job Overview
This position will be for 2-3 nights a week out. Flatbed and stepdeck experience preferred. Our freight is primarily farm and construction machinery.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including flatbed and tanker trucks, on OTR routes and local deliveries.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport.
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes, ensuring timely deliveries across various locations.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and hazard communication standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, inspections, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking load securement on flatbeds.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery schedules, or safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with flatbed, tanker, or refrigerated trailers.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements such as Hazmat and Tanker certifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and tractor-trailer maneuvering in various environments.
- Experience with logistics cargo handling, load & unload processes, and truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Strong understanding of route driving strategies to maximize efficiency while maintaining safety standards.
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols related to dangerous goods and hazardous materials.
