Description
Corn Crib Nursery provides customers with an extensive array of skillfully nurtured plants and gardening supplies. Most of the plants we sell are grown on site and sold in our year-round garden center. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as Manager.
The potential candidate should be a highly collaborative team member who will put Corn Crib's mission first and help deliver remarkable experiences to our customers. The manager will satisfy Corn Crib's customers and maintain sellable inventory that achieve sales goals. The manager works closely with the production departments and outside vendors to meet forecasted product trends and goals. The manager will also direct pricing (including promotional and contractual) to achieve Corn Crib's sales and gross profit goals.

Key Duties and Results
Customers
- Customers are greeted by staff members and assisted as appropriate
- Customer orders for plant material are managed and received by the customer to the customer’s satisfaction
Inventory
- Appropriate stocking levels of plant material are maintained per season
- Inventory records are correct with periodic counts and end of year full count
- Purchase orders for plant material on order with vendors
- Receive, verify, and store incoming shipments of plant material ready for sale
- Pricing has been managed to achieve maximum sales dollar volume while meeting gross profit goals
- Develop all-year and seasonal lists of plant items (key inventory items)
- Develop and monitor plans to ensure correct levels of key inventory items
- Plant display areas are fully stocked and all items are displayed appropriately
- Sales areas are attractive, clean, and orderly
Ordering
- Analyze sales projections to determine quantities to order and/or to grow here at Corn Crib
- Place Orders for product (including items to fill special orders from customers)
- Ensure purchase orders and receiving records are entered
Staffing
- Staff working in the sales area enjoy working there
- Staffing needs are identified
- Seasonal positions and new hires are coordinated promptly with the HR Department
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven track record in business and Garden Center Sales
- Previous work experience as a garden center sales manager or similar role
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
Experience:
- Horticulture: 2 years
- Garden Center Sales: 2 years
- Supervisory: 2 years
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
