This position is responsible for the planning, design management, implementation and construction of temporary and permanent energy plants (both heating and cooling), buried distribution piping networks (DPS) and district energy building service connections and energy transfer stations (ETS) and providing design oversight to Low-Carbon Energy Plants (LCEP). This role is responsible for the execution and reporting of district energy projects and initiatives, while adhering to schedule, budget, standards, safety policies and regulatory requirements. This position will be consulting, coordinating and managing various key external and internal stakeholders, including, but not limited to clients, developers, third-party utilities and internal groups such as Operations, Business Development, Regulatory Affairs and Finance (FP&A) to ensure successful planning, delivery, execution, commissioning and hand over to the Operations group.

Major Accountabilities
- Complete oversight and management of project(s) through the entire project lifecycle from development, planning through to design, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Manages, forecasts, reports and has control on all project related costs and spending, including but not limited to; contract management with external consultants, contractors and internal PM costs.
- Provides technical design and construction guidance to maintain forward project momentum and meet schedule deadlines. Must be able to provide timely and clear direction, decision and solutions to project team to resolve potential issues and ensure successful and on-time delivery.
- Sound judgement, problem-solving and decision-making abilities on project decisions, changes and potential challenges. These would apply to all aspects related to the project, to stakeholder relationships, communication, technical and construction.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with ability to manage and influence both external and internal stakeholder expectations and resolve potential conflicts to align stakeholder(s) and project team in achieving project objectives. Must strive for a pro-active approach with strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to supervise, train and provide mentorship to Project Coordinators. Uphold a safe and secure work environment; develop personal and professional growth opportunities within the team.
- Prepare detailed and complex project schedules, must be able to work in Microsoft Project.
- Prepare detailed project budgets with ability to generate order-of-magnitude cost estimates, and reports required cost forecasts and budgets.
- Manages all project contractual documentation, such as, but not limited to RFI, SI, CCO, CO, CD, CN, and CO logs
- Prepares contracts and negotiates revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, engineers, consultants, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and developers.
- Ensures effective and efficient communication between all project team members and stakeholders, such as consultants, clients and contractors. Able to manage and align stakeholder expectations and pro-actively resolve potential conflicts and challenges.
- Makes project decisions and adapts to dynamic situations with confidence and sound judgement.
- Monitors and controls project schedules, ensuring all design and construction milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Provide valuable technical review and meaningful feedback to consultant design deliverables such as drawings, specifications and reports.
- Maintain high standards and quality in project execution and work throughout the project life cycle.
- Actively monitors construction progress with an active site presence, through frequent site visits to ensure and verify construction work progress with intimate understanding of work progress and potential risks and challenges.
- Monitors site health, safety and environment (HSE), ensuring all project specific permitting, licensing and regulatory requirements are in compliance.
- Reviews and approves all project related monthly progress draws and invoicing and processes in a timely and expedient manner.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education / Experience:
- Mechanical, Civil, Process / Chemical, or Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent engineering or construction related qualification.
- 5 years related experience in engineering, project management and construction related fields and industries. Preference given to those with building engineering experience (HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
- PMP certification would be an asset
- LEED qualifications would be an asset
