Responsibilities:
- Develop, refine, and implement strategies and/or procedures for various environmental, occupational health, and safety requirements, program elements, or improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and train personnel on various site EH&S programs and procedures.
- Act as site point for audits by local, state or federal agencies specific to EH&S regulations (e.g. OSHA, EGLE, local municipalities, etc.).
- Coordinate the execution of EH&S incident investigations and subsequent correct actions, also including tracking and trending of data and site awareness communication.
- Maintain tracking and record keeping of all required site safety and environmental data and records, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), OSHA Logs, hazardous waste disposal records and others as appropriate.
- Manage the site’s workers’ compensation program, including documenting and maintaining record keeping for all injuries requiring Worker’s Compensation agency interaction and communication.
- Support the company’s sustainability program and initiatives
- Review and approve safety-related aspects of new equipment and processes.
- Present safety updates at company meetings, as requested.
- Serve as a liaison for outside contractors and consultants retained for EH&S related projects or initiatives. Deliver safety training to EMT’s and contractor management as required.
- Identify, analyze and report on EH&S metrics, with appropriate recommendations.
- Facilitate the site safety team meeting and follow-up action items.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Science, or other related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or related manufacturing setting.
- Safety or other EHS related certification or experience preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA / MIOSHA requirements.
- Basic knowledge of EGLE requirements.
- Computer and data analysis skills.
- Strong team player.
- Good interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable with public speaking in front of large groups of people.
