About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Medical Malpractice insurance professional to help build Corgi's Medical Malpractice underwriting capabilities.

This person will bring deep knowledge of medical professional liability, healthcare risks, claims dynamics, pricing, distribution, and portfolio management. You will help define our appetite, develop underwriting standards, evaluate risks, and build the infrastructure required to operate a modern Medical Malpractice business.

What You’ll Work On

• Own underwriting strategy for Medical Malpractice.
• Develop underwriting guidelines, appetite, authority levels, and referral criteria.
• Evaluate individual healthcare risks and make complex underwriting decisions.
• Develop pricing and risk-selection frameworks in partnership with actuarial and analytics teams.
• Analyze claims trends, loss drivers, exposure characteristics, and portfolio performance.
• Help determine appropriate coverage structures, limits, deductibles, and terms.
• Develop processes for underwriting and managing healthcare accounts at scale.
• Work with brokers, agents, distribution partners, reinsurers, and insureds.
• Partner with product, actuarial, legal, and technology teams to build the underlying insurance product.
• Help build the Medical Malpractice underwriting organization over time.

What We’re Looking For

• 4–7 years of experience in Medical Malpractice / Medical Professional Liability.
• Deep understanding of healthcare professional liability risks and claims.
• Working knowledge of claims-made and occurrence forms, tail (extended reporting) coverage, state patient compensation funds, and damages caps.
• Strong technical underwriting judgment.
• Experience underwriting complex or sophisticated healthcare accounts.
• Ability to understand pricing, loss trends, and portfolio economics.
• Strong relationships with brokers, agents, or other healthcare insurance distribution partners.

Especially Valuable

• Experience across one or more healthcare segments: individual physicians and medical groups, hospitals and health systems, senior care, or allied health.
• Experience with both underwriting and distribution.
• Experience building or launching a new book of business.
• Experience mentoring teammates or taking ownership of underwriting initiatives.
• Experience at a leading medical professional liability writer such as MedPro Group (Berkshire Hathaway), The Doctors Company (including ProAssurance), CNA, MagMutual, Coverys, or Curi, or on the healthcare liability team at Beazley or Chubb.
