Role Overview:

The Payroll Specialist / HR Coordinator plays a key role in Corfini Meat & Seafood’s payroll process. This position ensures accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The role also supports employee file management, benefit administration, insurance billing, and day‑to‑day HR tasks. Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of bi-weekly payroll processing while resolving all associated payroll-related issues. Monitor departments’ time records in timekeeping software and assist departments with payroll questions.
  • Processes approved payroll and status changes such as termination, department transfers, benefit and accruals and updates, rate of pay, premium adjustments, and other miscellaneous payroll/personnel related information.
  • Enters new hire information into the HRIS.
  • Prepares and transmits payroll contributions and reports, including retirement and HSA.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly, fiscal year end payroll procedures.
  • Prepares requested documents and files for annual external financial and workers compensation audits.
  • Checks all benefit monthly billing and deferred compensation to reconcile against the payroll system.
  • Manage garnishments pursuant to legal documents.
  • Respond to employment verifications requests.
  • Manages vacation and time off requests in payroll; ensuring proper payment and tracking.
  • Prepares journal entries and accruals.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or human resources, or related field or combination of equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in processing payroll.
  • Experience using Paylocity, preferred.
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of payroll/personnel, wage and hour compliance per state and federal laws.
  • Ability to solve problems, exercise sound judgment in planning, scheduling and completing assignments in an independent manner based on policies and procedures.
  • Highly detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common-sense skills.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. In addition, the employee must be able to rotate the neck frequently, extend hands/arms overhead frequently, and turn fully from a fixed stance.

Computer, printer, 10-Key, scanner, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, copier, telephone, voice mail, email, and other associated equipment.
