Corelis has an immediate opening for an FPGA Design Engineer at its Cerritos, California headquarters. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of FPGA IP products from initial concept through production, including detailed documentation and post-delivery customer support.
  • Design, implement, and verify digital logic for FPGAs, SoCs, CPLDs, microprocessors, interface circuitry, and JTAG-based emulation tools targeting advanced embedded processors.
  • Develop hardware description code using Verilog or VHDL, and design tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
  • Perform simulation, testing, and debugging of FPGA designs using test benches, simulation tools, and lab equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, hardware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of FPGA components within broader system architectures.
  • Gain deep expertise in Corelis boundary-scan (JTAG) and bus analysis tools and support the development of boundary-scan test procedures.
  • Author, maintain, and update technical documentation, including user manuals, product datasheets, application notes, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in FPGA design.
  • Proficiency in FPGA development using VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles, including simulation, test benches, verification, timing analysis/closure, and clock domain crossing.
  • Experience with FPGA development tools, particularly Xilinx ISE/Vivado and ModelSim; familiarity with Intel/Altera Quartus is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SoC/FPGA embedded design environments (e.g., Xilinx EDK) is a plus.
  • Experience with ARM core development and embedded C/C programming in a Linux environment is advantageous.
  • Engineered products using both digital and analog circuit design fundamentals.
  • Architected embedded systems using programmable components such as FPGAs, CPLDs, SoCs, and flash memory devices.
  • Familiarity with standard digital communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, QSPI, UART.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as DDR2/DDR3, USB 3.0, PCIe, and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving in both simulation and hardware lab environments.
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, DMMs, and power supplies.
  • Exposure to boundary-scan (JTAG) and IEEE 1149.1 technology is a plus.
  • Scripting skills in EDA-related languages (e.g., Python, TCL) are highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly present technical information.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
