Fiber Drilling Foreman – Job Description
Position: Fiber Drilling Foreman
Compensation: $350 per day
Benefits: Company truck provided for business use
Position Summary
The Fiber Drilling Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily directional drilling operations, managing field crews, maintaining production goals, ensuring job quality, and enforcing all company safety standards. This position serves as the primary point of contact on the job site and is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications.
Essential Job Duties Production & Crew Management
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of the drilling crew.
- Ensure daily production goals are met while maintaining quality workmanship.
- Coordinate work assignments and monitor crew performance throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, utility representatives, inspectors, and customers as needed.
Safety Responsibilities
- Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure all crew members are wearing and properly utilizing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Conduct daily safety meetings or toolbox talks when required.
- Identify and correct unsafe work conditions immediately.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete accurate daily production reports.
- Red-line construction maps to reflect completed work.
- Submit updated maps with daily wheel footage before the end of each workday.
- Report any issues, delays, utility conflicts, or damages promptly to management.
Job Site Management
- Ensure all work areas are cleaned up and restored before leaving each job site.
- Verify that equipment, materials, and tools are secured at the end of each day.
- Maintain a professional appearance of all job sites and company equipment.
- Ensure proper traffic control and public safety measures are maintained.
Equipment Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe operation of drilling equipment and support equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and report maintenance needs immediately.
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are kept clean and in good working condition.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in fiber optic directional drilling and underground utility construction is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
- Proven leadership and crew management experience is a must.
- Ability to read construction prints and utility maps.
- Experience with red-lining maps and documenting daily production.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
