POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Counselor - Residential
SALARY RANGE: $22 - $30/hour
CATEGORY: Full-time
REPORTS TO: Residential Clinical Manager/Medical Director
Position Summary
This position is a key member of the residential clinical team, responsible for supporting the overall treatment and clinical operations of the center. The AODA Counselor provides leadership, directs resident clinical care, and models professional standards for staff. This role collaborates closely with the CORE team, community partners, insurance companies, and referral sources.
Essential Duties
- Maintain strict resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in daily and weekly clinical staff meetings.
- Conduct clinical intakes, assessments, and develop treatment plans.
- Facilitate group, individual, and family counseling sessions.
- Provide discharge and aftercare planning.
- Lead educational group sessions.
- Complete progress notes weekly.
- Coordinate with case managers, aftercare facilities, physicians, probation officers, referral sources, and community partners.
- Respond to crisis interventions during work hours.
- Maintain licensure as required by the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
- Participate in the on-call crisis rotation after hours.
- Consult with mental health therapists for evaluations of dually diagnosed residents.
- Perform suicide risk assessments on admissions and as clinically indicated.
- Monitor medication effectiveness and collaborate with physicians as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Residential Clinical Manager.

Requirements:Position Requirements
Required: Active license (SAC-IT, SAC, CSAC, LCSW, APSW, LPC, LPC-IT, MFT, or QTT).
Preferred: Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (or actively enrolled).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of clinical documentation standards.
High ethical standards and professional boundaries.
Proficiency in basic computer applications.
