BASIC FUNCTION
This position is responsible for digital design and engineering work related to pattern development across multiple product categories. The role includes creating and updating CAD files, maintaining production documentation, and collaborating with internal teams to support new product design and customer-specific programs.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Digital Design & CAD Engineering
- File Conversion: Convert various customer or internal design files into production-ready formats. Interpret scanned drawings, digital imagery, and other references.
- Material Optimization: Arrange and nest patterns efficiently to reduce waste during cutting and manufacturing.
- Pattern Evaluation: Review submitted patterns for feasibility and recommend modifications to ensure manufacturability.
- Cross-Team Communication: Coordinate with internal teams (such as customer support, sales, and operations) regarding constraints that may affect production.
- File Library Management: Maintain and update the internal library of digital patterns, ensuring accuracy and tracking engineering changes.
- Tooling Design: Create and revise tools, fixtures, and aids required for production and quality verification.
- Technical Support: Provide CAD-related and technical support for automated cutting or production equipment.
- Sample & Trial Support: Assist with trial runs, prototype preparation, first-article testing, and other pre-production activities.
- Special Assignments: Participate in assigned special projects and engineering initiatives.
- Software: Utilize industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, pattern-making/nesting applications, and related design tools).
2. Product Engineering & Development
- Concept Creation: Collaborate with project or program managers to develop multiple design concepts.
- Drawing Development: Produce 2D and 3D drawings for internal review and customer submissions.
- Prototype Files: Generate cut files for prototype parts across product categories and support their initial production.
- Drawing Control: Maintain internal and customer engineering drawings and documentation.
- Specification Documentation: Create and update component or part specification sheets.
- Fixture & Equipment Concepts: Develop equipment, fixtures, or templates needed for consistent production.
- Launch Support: Work with commercial or project teams to implement new product programs from concept to launch.
- Production Trial Assistance: Support trial production runs and early-stage manufacturing validation.
- Sample Processing: Coordinate and prepare sample requests for evaluation or production needs.
3. General Responsibilities
- Layout Planning: Assist with facility layout drawings and workflow-related design tasks.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in improvement projects, contributing to design, documentation, and implementation activities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar applications).
- Competencies: Strong attention to detail, analytical/problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and collaborative work style.
- Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
