Summary Of The Role

As aSenior Civil Engineering Designer, supporting our Energy/EPC business unit, you will both own production and lead a small team. You will work with a collaborative, high-caliber group at a values-driven company focused on improving everyday life in the communities we serve.

You will deliver permit-ready civil packages for energy and ZEV infrastructure projects across North America, including EV charging (Level 2 and DCFC), battery energy storage (BESS), distributed generation, microgrids, and related site work. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes producing high-quality Civil 3D deliverables, solving site constraints quickly, and raising the bar by mentoring younger designers.

Responsibilities

• Lead Civil Design Production:
• Produce and review full site civil plan sets: site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, access, and details
• Develop constructible layouts around electrical and energy equipment, as well as prepare profiles, sections, and details with consistent labeling, styles, and standards
• Drainage, stormwater, and permitting support:
• Perform or review hydrology/hydraulics and site calculations (detention, conveyance, utility sizing, roadway and parking design) using tools such as HydroCAD, Hydraflow, ICPR/StormWise, HEC-RAS, or similar
• Prepare erosion and sediment control plans, Low impact development (LID) plans, SWPPPs, and stormwater management documentations
• Mentor and elevate the team:
• Plan and assign work for a small group of civil designers, provide technical direction, and develop their Civil 3D and site design skills
• Help improve and maintain civil templates, details, checklists, and best practices for Energy/EPC work
• Coordinate in an integrated EPC environment:
• Collaborate with civil engineers, electrical, structural, geotechnical, PMs, and construction teams to maintain schedule and design intent as well as
• Support RFIs, submittals, and construction questions, and help capture field changes for as-builts
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• E.I.T. preferred;
• Approximately 6–10 years of progressive site / civil design experience, preferably including commercial or infrastructure projects (fueling, convenience, industrial, energy, or EV charging)
• Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D production skills (grading, pipe networks, plan set organization, details, and plotting standards)
• Experience producing permit-ready drawing packages and coordinating through review cycles
• Demonstrated ability to review work and mentor junior staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  
  

Work Location

This is a hybrid position (3 days a week in the office) based out of the following Core States Group offices: Ontario, CA; Somerville, NJ; or Tampa, FL. Periodic travel for site visits and project meetings.
