Catholic Musician / Accompanist (Part-Time) – Dover AFB, DE

The Musician / Accompanist is responsible for providing instrumental accompaniment for Catholic Masses, rehearsals, and special religious services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Catholic Music Director, Catholic Priest, volunteer vocalists, and chapel staff to provide meaningful worship experiences for military members, their families, and the broader chapel community.

Type: Part-Time, Contracted Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instrumental accompaniment for weekly Catholic Masses and special religious observances.
• Accompany congregational singing, choir selections, soloists, and other musicians as required.
• Attend weekly rehearsals and prepare assigned music in coordination with the Catholic Music Director.
• Perform traditional and contemporary worship music appropriate to the Catholic Mass and liturgical seasons.
• Follow the Music Director’s musical direction, including tempo, transitions, and cues during services.
• Assist with music equipment setup and teardown.
• Participate in required meetings and training as scheduled.
• Work professionally and collaboratively with clergy, chapel staff, and volunteers.
• Follow chapel procedures and maintain professional conduct and attire.

Qualifications

• Have at least two years of experience leading music in a Catholic congregational worship setting, documented in a resume.
• Provide documentation from a current pastor or church leadership, such as a letter of good standing, verifying active, practicing Catholic status.
• Demonstrate piano proficiency and the ability to sight-read music appropriate for traditional and contemporary worship.
• Demonstrate the ability to accompany congregational singing, choirs, and soloists.
• Have knowledge of Catholic worship music and its role within the Mass.
• Demonstrate reliability, preparation, communication, and the ability to follow musical direction.
• Be able to complete required criminal history background and installation records checks and meet base access requirements.

Schedule

• Part-time
• Approximately 3-4 hours per week
• One weekly rehearsal and two weekly Sunday worship services
• Additional hours during holidays and special religious events

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and contract requirements. This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position.
