Materials Engineer Full Time Professional 3 Columbus, OH, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1214 Core Molding Technologies is hiring a Materials Engineer to support the development and testing of composite materials for innovative manufacturing solutions. In this role, you’ll work hands-on in the lab and on the production floor to evaluate materials, support product development, and help commercialize new technologies. Responsibilities Operate lab equipment and conduct testing (tensile, flexural, physical properties) Analyze material data and prepare test samples for customer evaluation Evaluate raw materials and make formulation improvements for performance or cost Design, formulate, and test new composite materials to meet customer needs Support material trials using various molding processes (compression, RTM, vacuum infusion, etc.) Develop test procedures and evaluate key formulation components (resins, fillers, catalysts, etc.) Maintain safe lab practices, manage chemical inventory, and troubleshoot lab equipment Document technical findings and support specification development Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams Travel as needed to support new product development and troubleshooting Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field 1+ year of relevant industry experience Knowledge of composites and material testing Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Effective communication and time management Team player with hands-on mindset Preferred Master’s degree in a technical discipline 5+ years of experience in composite molding or material development Experience with materials synthesis or advanced chemical processes Automotive or manufacturing industry background Job Details Schedule: Monday to Friday Travel: Occasional travel to support development or troubleshoot processes Location: Lab and manufacturing environment Physical Requirements: Occasionally lift or move lab supplies up to 40 lbs Why Join Us Competitive pay Comprehensive benefits package Paid time off Opportunities for learning, growth, and innovation Recruiters We do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party agencies.
