Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Hawaii fleet
- Act as the primary liaison between vessel crews and shoreside management.
- Support and mentor captains and crew to promote operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with USCG, OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Monitor vessel performance, coordinate maintenance, and ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with Port Engineers and maintenance teams to address technical needs.
- Lead incident investigations, safety reporting, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain strong working relationships within a union (IBU) environment.
- Participate in crew management, scheduling, and workforce planning.
- Engage directly with vessel crews and be actively involved in field operations.
- Previous experience in marine operations, with tug and barge experience preferred.
- Sailing experience as a Captain, Mate, or in a similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of vessel operations, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working within union environments is highly preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage crews in dynamic settings.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be comfortable working closely with crews and being present in the field.
- Ability to handle high-visibility responsibilities with a focus on operational performance.
