Working closely with Program Management, Planning and Integration, Finance, Quality, Logistics, and Contracts teams, the Operations Director is responsible for ensuring operational excellence across all functional areas.
Operations Director Responsibilities
- Provide budget allocation, tools, training, and leadership for the Chief Naval Architect, Production, Facilities, and Safety teams.
- Oversee safety compliance, ensuring adherence to government, industry, and company policies.
- Implement Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, Design to Cost (DTC) targets, and workforce efficiency initiatives to optimize performance.
- Collaborate with advanced manufacturing and supply chain teams to improve processes, technology, and overall program success.
- Ensure on-time, cost-effective, and high-quality product delivery that meets performance and safety requirements.
- Manage a team of 5–10 direct reports, including at least two Director-level subordinates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 15 years in marine engineering, production, or program management roles.
- Strong knowledge of DoD 5000.1 & 5000.2, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Rules, Lean/Six Sigma principles, and Value Engineering Change Proposal (VECP) development.
- Experience leading maritime engineering and production teams through product design, development, and delivery.
- Proficiency in developing Integrated Master Schedules, Work Packages, Bill of Materials (BOM), and utilizing ERP software.
- Expertise in cost estimation and historical data analysis for project planning.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- PMP certification
- Six Sigma / LEAN certification
