NDT Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented NDT Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform precise nondestructive testing and visual inspections on fabricated and machined components to ensure they meet strict quality and safety standards. This role is essential in supporting the integrity and reliability of our products through accurate testing, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced inspection technologies in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and witness nondestructive testing procedures such as radiography, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and visual inspections on various parts and materials.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment according to specifications, ensuring accurate results.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM), and tolerances to guide testing activities.
- Record, analyze, and document test data and inspection results meticulously.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control teams, suppliers, and production staff to resolve inspection issues and ensure product compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior NDT technicians.
- Maintain calibrated testing equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating inspection procedures and work instructions.
- Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives, including participation in safety observations and improvement projects.
- Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards in all testing activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of combined NDT experience or an equivalent combination of education and practical application.
- Valid Texas State Industrial Radiographer Certification or ASNT IRRSP.
- Certification or certifiable in ASNT-TC-1A Level II in Radiography and Penetrant Testing.
- Basic knowledge of digital and computerized radiographic techniques.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work onsite daily, including night shifts starting at 3:00 PM, with flexibility for overtime and weekend work.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and handle manual testing tasks with manual dexterity.
- Physical capability to perform testing and inspection duties.
