Journeyman Rigger Job Summary

As a Rigger Journey, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the movement of heavy loads and equipment using pulleys, cables, and hooks attached to cranes. Journeyman Rigger Responsibilities

• Use pulleys, cables, and hooks to lift heavy objects such as steel beams, bundles of rebar, and mechanical equipment
• Adhere to all safety procedures and verify center of gravity on different shapes and sizes of pipe, boxes, crates, motors, valves, skids, etc.
• Determine the working load limit of wire rope slings, round slings, nylon slings, and properly select the D/D ratio for shackle sizes vs. sling size
• Set up and secure air tugger, fairleads, and hoist lines
• Assist Crane Operator in assembly and disassembly of cranes and direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment
• Load, transport, unload, and assist in selecting all rigging tackle according to weight and size of load to be moved
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work area, and restock supplies and materials as necessary
  
  

Journeyman Rigger Position Requirements

• 3 years of experience as a rigger or in a related field
• Strong knowledge of rigging principles, techniques, and safety procedures
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documents
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to work at heights, lift heavy loads, and perform manual labor
• Valid certification in rigging and fall protection (e.g. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program)
