Job Description

Core Fiber is seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Installation & Repair (I&R) Technician I at our Florence, OR office. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, activating, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential and small business internet and voice services. As the front-line representative of our company in customers’ homes and businesses, you will ensure services are installed correctly, operating reliably, and delivered with exceptional customer care. This position offers an opportunity to build foundational technical skills while supporting the continued growth and reliability of our fiber and fixed wireless network.

The role includes:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform basic installs, activations, and swaps (modems/routers/Wi-Fi extenders; ONTs/CPE).
  • Set up in-home networks (Ethernet devices, SSIDs, basic LAN); confirm coverage/speeds and coach customers on network basics.
  • Assist with minor repairs and simple fault isolation; under supervision, use entry-level meters (signal/light meter; exposure to OTDR).
  • Document all work in the mobile work-order app; meet entry-level quality/timeliness metrics (first-time-right, on-time arrival, accurate close-out).
  • Participate in training ride-alongs; complete assigned e-learning and skills checks on schedule.
  • Follow Core Fiber Partners safety procedures; use required PPE; maintain a neat work area and company image.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to handle escalated service issues outside of standard business hours.
  • Work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned by the Dispatch and Ops Supervisor for the region.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Prior experience in wireless internet installation, telecommunications, or related field is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to use various tools and equipment for wireless internet installations.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Solid understanding of wireless networks, terminations, connectors, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for wireless installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and installation instructions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time and priorities effectively.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to customer locations within the designated local markets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,882.00 - $64,324.00 per year
