Job Summary
Core Diagnostic Laboratories is looking to hire an experienced and motivated Specimen Collector to be a part of our growing laboratory team! The main laboratory is located in Birmingham, AL. This collector position will be onsite at a client's office in Albertville, AL.
Employee will be responsible for the collection and preparation of all specimens for submission to the laboratory. Experience in specimen collection is a must. Must be comfortable handling biohazardous materials with provided PPE.
Must have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities:
· Accurately order all tests listed on the patient requisition form
· Collect patient samples required for the tests ordered
· Prepare samples for shipment to the laboratory
· Follow HIPPA regulations and Universal Precautions
· Communicate issues to management in a timely manner
Skills:
· Attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Efficient in computer operations
· Previous lab experience is preferred
Work Location: Albertville, AL
Shift: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8-5
Job Type: Part Time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 28 per week
Duties
- Collect urine specimens and capillary sticks as needed in accordance to safety and compliance regulations.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens to maintain accuracy in testing.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection.
- Document all collected specimens accurately and maintain comprehensive records.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient processing of specimens.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working in a clinical environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the specimen collection area.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
