Requirements:
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including periodontal therapies, prophy's, taking digital x-rays, and applying fluoride treatments
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Excellent working knowledge of dentistry and dental hygiene procedures to educate patients
- Document patient treatment plans, progress notes, and medical history in dental software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies and oral hygiene techniques
- Assist dentists during procedures with chairside assisting, handling dental instruments and materials efficiently
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health records (EHR) s
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting medical coding and billing processes when necessary
