About the Hub:

The Hub is a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive one-stop-shop for residents affected by the LA wildfires. Located in Altadena, the Hub provides centralized access to rebuilding guidance, disaster recovery resources, and community programming. CORE operates as both a direct service provider and a convener for trusted community-based partners, ensuring equitable access to tools, resources, and expert support required to rebuild safely and sustainably.

In addition to the main Hub, CORE is developing the Center for the Community in partnership with LACDA. The Center will be a flexible outdoor/indoor venue on Lincoln Avenue for community meetings, gatherings, cultural events, showcases, and other public activities.

Position Overview:

The Community Outreach Coordinator will represent CORE and lead the outreach, mobilization, and community relationship-building efforts to increase awareness, participation, and engagement for the Hub and Center for the Community.

This role is responsible for maintaining an active presence in the community through outreach campaigns, local events, meetings, and ongoing relationship development with survivors, community members, organizations, faith communities, schools, and local stakeholders. The Community Outreach Coordinator also supports social media and community communications efforts for the Hub and The Center, helping ensure survivors remain informed about available rebuilding resources, programs, events, and opportunities for engagement.

The Community Outreach Coordinator supports outreach campaigns, newsletters, community events, and engagement activities designed to increase visibility of the Hub and The Center within Altadena and surrounding communities. This role also provides operational and logistical support for events at both locations.

This is a highly relational, field-based, and community-facing role requiring flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support outreach activities, events, and community engagement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Outreach and Mobilization

• Represent the Hub/The Center at outreach events, community meetings, and tabling opportunities.

• Conduct proactive outreach to survivors, residents, small businesses, faith communities, schools and community-based organizations to increase awareness of the Hub and Center services, resources and programs.

• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, service providers, and cultural groups.

• Support community mobilization campaigns related to needs assessments, workshops, townhalls and other engagement initiatives.

• Proactively identify and pursue events, collaborations, and partnership opportunities to extend the Hub's and the Center's reach.

• Identify opportunities to increase visibility and participation in the Hub and Center activities throughout the year.

• Act as a connector, ensuring residents and survivors know about and can access services, programs and resources.

Social Media and Community Visibility

• Under guidance of the CORE Communications team and per Social Media SOP, coordinate social media content for the Hub and the Center. Write copy, capture photos and edit short-form video.

• Develop and schedule social media content and posting cadence in coordination with CORE California's social media.

• Cultivate engagement by responding to comments, direct messages, and mentions across CORE California's social medial channels.

• Coordinate messaging with Hub/Center leadership and CORE Communications team to ensure communications are accurate, timely and community-centered.

• Support development and distribution of newsletters and other community communications.

Events Logistics Support

• Support planning and operational execution of community events, trainings, workshops at the Hub and the Center

• Assist with event setup, logistics, signage and day-of-support at the Hub and the Center.

Administrative & Reporting

• Track attendance, participation, and feedback for programs and events.

• Support grant reporting by providing data on engagement, programming, and volunteer activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• 3 years' experience in community outreach and engagement

• Strong organizational, communication, and public speaking skill.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for community events.

• Awareness of humanitarian principles and strong capacity for cultural sensitivity, inclusion, and equity.

Preferred:

• Experience in disaster recovery, community center programming, or nonprofit work.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish or another language common in Altadena/Pasadena

• Familiarity with local community resources, leaders, and organizations.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Full-time, onsite and field-based role supporting the Hub and the Center

• Regular travel throughout the Altadena/Pasadena and surrounding communities. Reliable transportation is required.

• Flexibility for evening and weekend events as required.

• Indoor/outdoor environments and ability to lift to 30 lbs is required.
