We are seeking motivated, outgoing, and dependable Community Canvassers to support outreach efforts across the Harrisburg, Enola and Lancaster, PA communities. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with people, building relationships, and helping connect residents to important community resources and initiatives.
As a Community Canvasser, you will serve as a frontline representative—sparking conversations, gathering feedback, and ensuring community members are informed and heard.
Job Description: The Community Canvasser is a part-time, temporary, grant-funded position. Utilizing deep canvassing strategies, this position will work regionally to test scripts and messaging on political and community issues, identify supporters of Family and Community issues, and invite them to join our movement.
The successful Community Canvasser will engage in candid, two-way conversations where the canvasser asks people to share their relevant, emotionally significant experiences related to family and community issues and reflect on them aloud.
Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable walking for extended periods and working outdoors
- Reliable transportation preferred
- Ability to work independently while staying accountable to team goals
- Must be dependable and punctual
Preferred:
- Spanish-speaking ability is a strong plus
- Prior canvassing, outreach, sales, or customer-facing experience
Work Environment
- Field-based role requiring local travel within designated neighborhoods
- Flexible scheduling available to support work-life balance
- Training provided
- Weekly training and conversation prep
- Canvassing a minimum of 2 hours/week in the field (or on the phones in inclement weather), completing conversations with at least 2 constituents per week.
- Debriefing and offering feedback on script and survey questions
- Other canvassing-related duties as assigned
Compensation & Benefits

Location: Currently seeking candidates in the greater Lancaster, Harrisbur, and Enola, PA area. This position will require reliable transportation.
Reporting and Staffing Structure: The Community Canvasser will report directly to our Regional Coordinators. The Regional Coordinator and/or the Organization’s Director will provide support and assign tasks as required.
