Position Summary
The Commercial Credit Analyst II provides advanced credit analysis and underwriting support for the bank’s commercial lending portfolio, including commercial & industrial and commercial real estate. This role evaluates the financial condition of existing and prospective borrowers, assesses credit risk, prepares credit presentations, and supports relationship managers in structuring sound credit solutions. The Commercial Credit Analyst II is expected to handle more complex credits, exercise sound judgement, and contribute to portfolio quality. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, and collateral to determine borrower creditworthiness.
- Prepare detailed credit memorandum for new loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews.
- Conduct ratio analysis, trend analysis, and industry benchmarking to identify strengths, weaknesses, and risk factors.
- Evaluate global cash flow, guarantor strength, and repayment capacity for complex borrowing structures.
- Reviews adequacy and appropriateness of collateral.
- Recommend appropriate loan structures, terms, and risk ratings based on analysis.
- Review entity documentation (operating agreements, bylaws, resolutions, etc.).
- Partner with relationship managers to gather borrower information, discuss deal structure, and support client presentations.
- Communicate analysis, findings, and recommendations clearly to credit officers, loan committees, and senior leadership.
- Work cross-functionally with lending, loan operations, and compliance to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensure all credit files meet regulatory standards, internal credit policy, and audit requirements.
- Stay current on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes impacting commercial lending.
- Assist in ongoing risk rating reviews and ensure documentation aligns with regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Assist Commercial Lenders with the preparation of the quarterly Problem Loan Reports.
- Assist in special projects, portfolio stress testing, or process improvement initiatives as needed.
- Utilize the bank’s core banking system to research loan and deposit information.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to all bank policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, commercial lending, or related banking role.
- Experience with FIS preferred but not required
- Experience with Abrigo / Sageworks preferred but not required
