What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert?
A concrete manufacturing company located in the Allentown area is currently seeking a Staff Accountant. The role reports directly to the company’s Controller and should have familiarity with manufacturing and inventory accounting transactions. Very much a ‘hands-on’ role, the position also provides excellent experience with all monthly, quarterly, and year end reporting procedures, ledger entries, along with exposure to fixed asset accounting. Candidates should have prior experience posting transactions in the following areas: A/P & A/R, billing, cash application, and aspects of payroll. The company utilizes an outside payroll provider. A solid understanding/experience with US GAAP and Sage ERP systems is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate high attention to detail, sound critical thinking as well as possess solid time management skills and the desire to learn the company’s business, products and customers. Applicants should possess solid written and interpersonal communication skills and work well in a team environment. Proficiency with the suite of MS Office applications such MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook is required.
Education & Experience:
- B.S. in Accounting from an accredited institution
- At least 2-years of accounting experience
- Possess a foundational knowledge of US GAAP, Financial Statements, Fixed Asset Accounting, Cost and Inventory Accounting
- Experience processing transactions in an ERP system
- Demonstrate professional skills involving problem solving, critical/analytical thinking, and attention to detail and time management
- Demonstrate good written and interpersonal communication
- Experience with MS Excel
- Experience working in team environment
- Must be comfortable working directly with senior company management
