Cordia Resources is performing a search for a Director of Revenue Accounting for a publicly traded technology company in the Washington DC area. This is mostly a remote role but the client would like someone living in the Washington DC area. This is a newly created role due to growth. The ideal candidate will have mix of public accounting experience plus revenue accounting experience in a mid sized technology company. This individual will be responsible for building the revenue group. CPA and Netsuite experience a big plus. Salary around 200k plus bonus and RSU's. Key responsibilities
- Revenue Recognition and Compliance: Oversee all aspects of revenue accounting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 standards.
- Financial Close: Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes for revenue, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of revenue accounting and billing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. This includes integrating revenue recognition into contract structuring and billing practices.
- Systems Management: Ensure accurate system configurations within the company's ERP system and assist in implementing and maintaining financial systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams such as Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Engineering to provide technical guidance on revenue recognition and support strategic initiatives.
- Auditing: Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation and addressing inquiries related to revenue accounting.
- Team Leadership: Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Required skills and qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a CPA required.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive revenue accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role. Experience in a SaaS/subscription environment is frequently required.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- System Knowledge: Experience with Netsuite
- Communication: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate with different departments and explain complex concepts.
Salary : $180,000 - $210,000
