What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing position at Corban University?
MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.
RESPONSIBLITIES: Primary responsibly is teaching undergraduate nursing courses. The successful candidate will be able to teach nursing clinical practice in a variety of settings and nursing theory courses focused on care of adults and families. The successful candidate must teach the subject matter in a manner that is consistent with the university’s Statement of Faith. Other duties include academic advising, student research advising/mentoring, curriculum and program development, and university and departmental committee work. Corban University faculty are expected to be active scholars, excellent teachers, active in service to the university and the community, and able to model the integration of faith and learning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing is required. Exhibit expertise (either work or research) in the discipline to be taught. Applicants need a current Oregon State Nursing License. Prior teaching experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop course schedules and syllabi.
- Identify and meet the learning needs of students.
- Supervise students in the clinical setting.
- Perform Biblical Integration in line with Corban’s Statement of Faith.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessment instruments for students’ progress and competence.
- Work closely and maintain consistent communication with Nursing program faculty.
Character: The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian faith, be in agreement with the University’s statement of faith, be committed to the integration of biblical principles within the discipline of nursing and be willing to invest him/herself in the development of undergraduate students. The nursing program places great value in collaboration and, therefore, desires candidates who have the same teamwork and collaborative values.
