MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ. 


SUMMARY: The Director of Career Services leads the university's efforts to help students prepare for life after graduation. Guided by Corban's Christian mission, this position helps students discover their God-given calling, explore career options, develop professional skills, and connect with internships, jobs, and graduate school opportunities. The Director builds strong relationships with employers, faculty, alumni, and community partners to create meaningful career pathways for students while leading the Career Services office and continually improving its programs and services.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Career Development & Student Support
    • Provide individual and group career counseling, assessments, and coaching to undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Support students in internships, graduate school applications, and post-graduation employment planning.
    • Oversee programs and workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and job search strategies.
    • Teach up to six credit hours per academic year in a subject area aligned with the candidate’s earned graduate degree, as determined by departmental needs.
  • Employer & Community Engagement
    • Develop partnerships with local, regional, and national employers to increase internship and employment opportunities.
    • Coordinate career fairs, recruiting events, and on-campus employer visits.
    • Collaborate with the Alumni Office to engage alumni in mentoring, speaking, and networking events.
  • Program Leadership & Administration
    • Lead the vision, planning, and assessment of the Career Services office.
    • Develop and manage departmental goals, budgets, and reporting metrics.
    • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and student success teams to integrate career development across the curriculum.
  • Oversee the management of the internal and external job search platforms to ensure accurate job postings, event promotion, and student engagement tracking.
    • Maintain knowledge of labor market trends, workforce skills, and employer expectations.
    • Maintain membership and active involvement in professional organizations related to career and counseling services.
    • Design and maintain systems to track graduate outcomes, internships, and employment data.
    • Provide reports and assessments for institutional planning and accreditation needs.
    • Work with the Marketing and Communications department to maintain the Career Services webpage.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated understanding of how Career Services supports student success, enrollment, and the overall mission of a university, particularly within a Christian higher education context.
  • Strong knowledge of labor market trends, employer engagement strategies, and workforce readiness skills essential for college students' career success.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate initiatives collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering effective career programming, including workshops and public presentations, tailored to student needs and employer expectations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in relevant career platforms, data systems, and productivity tools.
  • Commitment to student development, with the ability to coach and empower students toward discovering their vocational calling and preparing for meaningful work.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • A master’s degree in an applicable field is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in career services, employer relations, student development, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide career guidance, lead programming, and develop strategic partnerships.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Corban University.


WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Traditional office environment with some travel; occasional evening and weekend work. 
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
