Position Summary
Corami Biotech is seeking a Director of Research & Development (R&D) to lead scientific and technical programs that advance our cardiac therapeutic delivery platform from preclinical research toward clinical readiness. The Director will oversee preclinical study design and execution, coordination of device feasibility and biologic development efforts, and IND-enabling studies. This individual will report to the senior leadership team and play a key role in integrating biological, preclinical, and engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Execution: Manage end-to-end R&D activities supporting advancement of Corami’s therapeutic delivery platform.
- Preclinical Studies: Oversee small and large animal studies to generate translational evidence and support regulatory submissions.
- Biologics & Assays: Supervise biologic candidate characterization, in vitro assays, and optimization to ensure effective cardiac delivery.
- IND Preparation: Coordinate IND-enabling studies in partnership with Regulatory and Clinical teams.
- Team Management: Mentor and lead scientific and engineering staff to execute R&D plans efficiently and rigorously.
- Collaborations: Manage relationships with CROs, academic collaborators, and development partners to accelerate program milestones.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Partner closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and CMC colleagues to align R&D outcomes with corporate objectives.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or MS with extensive experience) in Biomedical Engineering, Cardiology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, or related field.
- 8 years of biotech, medtech, or pharmaceutical industry experience, with increasing responsibility in translational R&D.
- Hands-on experience with preclinical study design and execution (including animal models).
- Background in biologics and/or device-biologic combination products strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with IND-enabling studies and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage external collaborations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented and execution-focused.
