Role Description The Surgical Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at the Coral Surgery clinic in Coral Springs, FL. This role involves assisting the surgeon during oral and maxillofacial procedures, preparing and organizing the operating room, and ensuring all instruments and materials are ready and sterile. Daily responsibilities include supporting IV sedation cases, positioning and monitoring patients, passing instruments, maintaining a clear surgical field, and following all infection control and safety protocols. The Surgical Assistant also helps with room turnover, instrument cleaning and sterilization, inventory management, and documentation of procedures as directed. Collaboration with the clinical team, clear communication with patients, and consistent adherence to clinical standards are essential.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Operating Room procedures and workflows, with the ability to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment.
- Hands-on experience in Surgical Assisting and Surgical Technology, including instrument handling, patient positioning, and intraoperative support.
- Foundational knowledge of Medicine relevant to oral and maxillofacial surgery, including basic anatomy, vital signs, and pre- and post-operative care.
- Proficiency in Sterilization practices, infection control, and adherence to OSHA and clinical safety guidelines.
- Certification or formal training as a surgical assistant, surgical technologist, or dental/medical assistant preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support patients calmly and professionally.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow standardized protocols and surgeon instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, manage multiple cases in a day, and work collaboratively.
