Job Summary
The Narrator is responsible for delivering engaging, educational, and safety-focused narrations aboard CRPC tour vessels. This role serves as the voice of the experience — guiding guests through the natural attractions of Key Largo’s mangrove-lined canals and coral reef areas, while ensuring guests enjoy a safe, memorable, and informative tour. The ideal candidate is personable, knowledgeable about marine life, and able to communicate effectively with large groups in a professional and welcoming manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Guest Engagement & Education
- Deliver entertaining and informative narrations during boat tours, highlighting local history, wildlife, and conservation facts.
- Welcome guests aboard and ensure they are informed about safety procedures and tour expectations.
- Provide clear and courteous responses to guest questions, maintaining a friendly and professional tone.
- Use training materials provided by the Head Narrator to ensure consistent delivery of accurate information.
- Tailor the narration to different audiences (families, tourists, school groups, etc.) for an enjoyable and educational experience.
Safety & Operations
- Assist with boarding and seating guests safely and efficiently.
- Support the Captain and crew by communicating passenger needs or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure all safety announcements and procedures are completed prior to departure.
- Observe passenger behavior and maintain order throughout the tour to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Presentation & Teamwork
- Maintain professional appearance in CRPC-approved uniform at all times.
- Coordinate closely with the Captain, Head Narrator, and Marine Biologist to align messaging and enhance the guest experience.
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and periodic performance evaluations to improve narration quality and guest engagement.
- Handle guest feedback with professionalism, escalating issues to the Captain or General Manager when appropriate.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in public speaking, guiding, or performing preferred.
- General knowledge of coral reefs, marine life, and environmental conservation.
- Strong verbal communication and storytelling skills.
- Friendly, approachable personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to project voice clearly to large groups in outdoor or boat settings.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and on boats in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to pass the company’s drug test and background check.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to work site required.
