Construction Crew Lead – Commercial Playground Installation-Immediate Opening
PlayTech Midwest is hiring a Crew Lead for our commercial playground installation team. We work with public and private schools, child care centers, associations, and other commercial and community properties throughout Michigan. Our work includes new playground installations, removals, relocations, and site improvements, with expected growth into northern Ohio and Indiana in the coming years.
We are looking for a dependable, motivated leader who can manage a small crew, work closely with project managers, and help keep jobs moving safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Lead a small crew on commercial playground installation projects
- Read basic site plans and layout drawings for setup and build
- Install, remove, and relocate commercial playground structures
- Operate heavy equipment on project sites
- Tow trailers and assist with transporting equipment, materials, and tools to and from jobsites
- Run daily safety meetings and jobsite huddles
- Complete daily logs, reports, and schedule updates
- Communicate clearly with crew members, project managers, and customers as needed
- Maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards on every project
- Adapt to schedule changes and fast-paced project demands
- Attend monthly staff and crew meetings
- Bring ideas, field feedback, and solutions to improve operations
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to tow trailers as part of the job
- Equipment operation experience required
- Ability to lift 80 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in cold, rain, heat, and changing weather conditions
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading crews and running projects
- Strong field applicants with experience working under a crew lead will also be considered
- Ability to read basic site plans
- Strong communication and written documentation skills
- Ability to complete daily job logs and reports
- Must be able to pass a background check
Having a background does not automatically disqualify you
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to adjust to changing schedules
- Must be available for weekend work during the busy seasonSchedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- At least every other weekend during the busy season
- Occasional overtime
- Some travel required
Compensation & Benefits
- $25–$28/hour starting pay
- Yearly bonus based on performance and production
- Yearly boot allowance
- 20 hours PTO after 90 days
- PTO use is subject to approval

- Immediate work available with active projects lined up
