Custodian

Essential Job Functions:

1. Maintain a cooperative relationship with coworkers, staff, students, and the public.
2. Sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors and sidewalk areas, vacuum carpets.
3. Empty wastebaskets & other refuse containers.
4. Clean bathrooms, classrooms, & offices, replenish supplies.
5. Move furniture as necessary for school programs, clean furniture as needed.
6. Open buildings in the morning, and secure buildings at end of shift.
7. Perform minor repairs & adjustments to building fixtures & equipment.
8. Monitor building for safety violations and maintenance problems, report to Principal and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
9. Other duties as assigned

Other Job Functions:

1. Assist in training of new, temporary, and substitute custodial employees.
2. After hours cleaning of athletic facilities if applicable.
3. Unload and unpack supplies, store stock received and dispose of used shipping cartons.
4. Replace light tubes and bulbs.

2. Use of cleaning materials & equipment
3. Building maintenance
4. Safety standards & practices

Ability to:

1. Maintain satisfactory attendance
2. Climb & work on ladders
3. Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions

Experience:

1. Prior custodial or janitorial work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

In an eight-hour day, employee may

1. Stand/Walk 5-6 Hours
2. Drive 1-2 Hours

4. Stoop/Squat/Bend 1-2 Hours
5. Lift/Carry 1-2 Hours      Up to a weight of     50 lbs
6. Climb Stairs Occasionally
7. Use hands for repetitive motions Frequently
8. Use feet for repetitive movements Frequently

Salary : $20 - $24
